Lunch Break began singing together during the summer of 2007 just for fun during their lunch break hour, and haven't stopped since. Combining humor, youthful energy, and good old fashioned barbershop harmony, Lunch Break brings a unique brand of entertainment to audiences of all ages. Lunch Break's repertoire includes barbershop, jazz, gospel, and folk-hip-hop-fusion.

Lunch Break is fortunate to have won the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2007 Dixie District Championship.

"I want these guys on the radio!"

The Warren "Conewango Clippers" Chorus celebrated 60 years of harmony at their annual show this year. LB shared the stage with the outstanding Clippers and Serenade, a perrenial district finalist in Seneca Land and 2005 Buckeye Champs. Very cool guys and great singers!

Lunch Break received arguably our finest accolade to date. After completing our show package, a lovely four-year old girl named Carly exuberantly proclaimed to her mother her desire to have us on the radio. Thanks, Carly! (Maybe it was the Temptations background accompaniment track and subsequent freestyle boogiedown that got her jazzed) Now, let's get those singing judges on board and we'll have ourselves a contest this summer.

Thanks, Clippers for a great weekend! Check out pics...

totally ate this at dinner saturday night (minus onions and tomatoes)

Kentucky Vocal Union Rocks!

Lunch Break travelled up to Lousiville this past weekend to perform on the annual Kentucky Vocal Union chapter show. It was the FIRST EVER annual show for this new chorus, and what a chorus it is! Led by the esteemable and infamous director/arranger Aaron Dale, the KVU is headed for the International Barbershop chorus competition this summer in Nashville, so if you're in the area, do not miss these guys. They are awesome. It was perhaps one of the highest honors for Lunch Break to share the stage with such a vocal machine that is the KVU. (They're nice guys too.) Thank you all for being such gracious hosts.

Guess the Quartet Tag Online Game!

Think you know your favorite quartets' sound? Try matching the quartets with the tags.

Let's play!

Barbershop 70th Anniversary

On Friday the 11th Lunch Break was fortunate to share in a piece of barbershop history at the grand opening of the new Harmony Marketplace/70th anniversary celebration. Local Nashville news agencies were there to document, and Lunch Break was able to squeeze themselves on TV for a brief moment. What an awesome day!
When I Leave the World Behind ALL UP IN THIS.

Yay, Gig

Lunch Break had an amazing time singing on the Sons of the Severn chapter show in beautiful Anne Arundel Co. Maryland. Everyone was wonderful and hospitable, despite the eastern seaboard's reputation otherwise. Who knew that a predominantly liberal-populated region could be so warm and inviting? (HOO-AH) And Dave, you are the man! Dave treated us spectacularly and got us where we needed to go with military precision. The 'Sons' put on a fantastic show which featured the chorus, many chapter quartets, and the talented Cheapeake High School vocal ensembles who stole the show.

Cicis pizza. Your afterglows should be there always forever.

Drew got new shoes. Ask him about them.

Mike bumped and grinded (ground?) on stage for probably the first time ever to critical acclaim.

Thanks, T.J., Mike Kelly, and the Sons for a great weekend!

Lunch Break Qualifies For Internationals

What a great weekend in Greenville, SC! Lunch Break was fortunate to qualify with a score of 78.3% for the 2008 International Barbershop Quartet competition in Nashville, TN that takes place this summer. We couldn't be more excited and appreciative of all our brothers in the Music City Chorus for their unwavering support over the past 9 months as we've prepared for this moment. And also, we give thanks to all our Dixie District friends (new and old) who encouraged us along the way. A little pat of the back with a "great job, guys!" or "Man, I nearly passed a kidney stone laughing at you guys!" goes a long way, let us tell you.

As the saying goes, "Comedy is serious business", and Lunch Break's early venture into this dangerous territory would be even more wrought with peril were it not for the wise council of our friend/coach Rick LaRosa, and for that matter, all our friends who don't mind in the least bit looking us square in the eye and saying "That's not funny. Do something different." or occasionally, "Haha!" It's a journey, no doubt, but we're having some of the best times we've had as quartetters exploring this strange and wondrous land.

The weekend also saw a new high for the Music City Chorus, finishing 2nd place behind the always impressive Atlanta Vocal Project. And our Dixie quartet brothers Pinstripe (79.6%), and Redline (87.2%) have also qualified for the 'big show' in Nashville this summer. (Wheelhouse and Stormfront qualified as well, competing at Dixie out of their own home districts.) Congratulations, guys! Good luck to Great Nashville Singout and State Line Grocery who will compete in upcoming prelims.

What.

First Post!

Hello all. Lunch Break has had a busy season in its infancy thus far. After winning the Dixie District's quartet contest in September 2007, they have had a chance to perform for the Rockettes, met the Mayor of Nashville and some Titans cheerleaders, helped light up the Nashville christmas tree, shared a spot on Channel 4's More At Midday with Holly, interupted a session of the Tennessee State Legislature to deliver a singing valentine, entertained the Kiwanis Club, and were the featured quartet on the spring Music City Chorus gospel concert.

Lunch Break has also been invited to perform the american and canadians national anthems at an upcoming Predators hockey game (Feb 21).

So you can see that it's been a busy season for Lunch Break and with our schedule of shows coming up, it promises to continue to get even crazier. Crazy is good.
