About Lunch Break

Lunch Break began singing together during the summer of 2007 just for fun during their lunch break hour, and haven't stopped since. Combining humor, youthful energy, and good old fashioned barbershop harmony, Lunch Break brings a unique brand of entertainment to audiences of all ages. Lunch Break's repertoire includes barbershop, jazz, gospel, and folk-hip-hop-fusion.

Lunch Break is fortunate to have won the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2007 Dixie District Championship, and finished as the 11th place semifinalist at the International Barbershop Convention in 2010.

You guys should perform for us at HXNE this summer or another one if possible. It's August 7 through 10 at Worcester State this year, with the final show on that Saturday night at 7:00. I had a blast last year and would love to see you!

Hey Lunch Break! Just wanted to tell you guys I just became a fan of yours just a few days ago, actually. I was on youtube looking a Capella stuff and saw these funny-looking guys in yellow costumes on stage. The link was 'Old McDonald had a Deformed Farm', and decided it was worth a shot :). I became a fan on the spot! I decided you guys were my favorite barbershop quartet and I then looked up a bunch of videos of you guys! I can't tell you how much I've laughed while watching your comedy bits. You guys are awesome! Keep up the good work!
Good luck

hey lunch break, I was wondering how you guys got together. Are you four good friends who thought "hey lets be a barbershop quartet!" or something else?
how we got together

Thanks for the note, Matt! We actually were friends before we got together through the chapter to which we all belonged. As it turned out, we were all attending Harmony University the summer of 2007, and each day we would get together during our... LUNCH BREAK... and would have some fun singing through some songs we knew. We thought it would be a fun experiment to go to fall Dixie contest and try some parodies and just have a good ol' time. Our tenor had written a few parodies years earlier and had some ideas he had always wanted to try out, but it was never the right time or right quartet.

We were all in other quartets at the time, so it was going to just be a one-time thing, but after our first experience with comedy that fall, we quickly decided it was something we really wanted to keep doing. So it's been going every since :)

Hey! I was looking up a cappella stuff on Youtube and came across your rendition of "Old McDonald Had a Deformed Farm" for your mic test performance in KC. Huge fan! I was just wondering if there was any chance that you could direct me to website where I could find sheet music for that song, or if you happened to have had it published. Any info would be great!

Lunch Break
Hey Cody, thanks for the note... sorry for the delay in reply, and I hope you see this comment :) But we don't really have anything published or even written down unfortunately. We used David Wright's arrangement of Hello Mary Lou which you can buy on www.harmonymarketplace.com, and for the actual animal verses we just sort of arranged it ourselves on the fly since it was such a basic chord structure. I may have written it down on staff paper somewhere but I'd have to dig around for it... find us on facebook and drop us a message and I'll see if I can shoot it your way.
excited to see the excitement

My husband came across this group and laughed so hard. Once he showed me the song, "Old McDonald had a deformed farm", I fell in love. I had to get on my computer right away to see if I could find more. I was able to see a few other songs on YouTube and hope to find a way to see you in person. I love barbershop music and find it hard to find excitement among my peers. To see a group take barbershop and give it that awesome comedic spice give me such hope! I can't wait to find more and more of LunchBreak's work, and hope they think about traveling to Michigan soon...You guys are awesome!
